Steam-Bent Maple Snare With Maple Hoops

 | DESCRIPTION
This drum is the same as the first steam-bent snare we built, except this time we've replaced the die cast hoops with custom-shaped 32 ply maple hoops. It's hard to believe it until you experience it first-hand, but it's now a totally different drum! To begin with, the batter head has a much softer feel-almost "pillowy" compared to how it felt before. Secondly, the wood hoops offer even more powerful rim shots and cross sticks than the die cast-the whole drum seems to come "alive" under the sticks so much that it becomes almost a living creature. Sensitivity, power, responsiveness, and a total inability to "choke" are just a few more of the added benefits. In addititon, the custom shaping removes just enough "meat" to soften the blocky look without sacrificing tonal integrity and body. Worry not about durability, either, these hoops are much stronger than any wooden drumstick.
