The solid mahogany shell and wood hoops combine to make a drum that offers a deep, soft, smooth sound, and provides dry, solid center hits with sparse, clean overtones as one pulls closer to the edges. Easily controllable, this is a true "ballad" snare that would still be at home in almost any musical application. Amazingly, this big drum weighs only 6 pounds!
